Tony Judt, a Professor of History at NYU and perhaps one of the most important contemporary European historians and political critics passed away earlier this month. I believe the Guardian's
obit is most imformative of the major new outlets. Prior to his death from the effects amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the majority of his writing consisted of a series of essays for the
New York Review of Books and which culminated in a new and final book published earlier this year,
Ill Fares the Land, which I am currently reading. Here he is on Charlie Rose discussing his 2005 book,
Postwar, which I voraciously ingested last summer.
